On Guard!

Are you ready with the Word like a soldier with a sword? You should be able to instantly declare it from your heart as quickly as drawing a sword from a sheath. “ Preach the word; be INSTANT in season, out of season” (2 Tim 4:2KJV) If you have to “go looking” for a scripture when the enemy attacks he has found you unarmed and is ready to put you in bondage. It’s easier to do what it takes to stay free than to try and escape the chains put on you by wrong thinking. If you think wrong you’ll make wrong decisions and wrong decisions will put you in some kind of prison.

“It was just a small error in judgment the soldier said, when we were attacked I went looking for the battle manual.” Didn’t you know what to do? “No I just figured I’d look it up if something came up that I couldn’t handle.”

If you’re a Christian you will get in a fight. It’s called the fight of faith and your skill with the scripture will determine your quality of life. The enemy strikes at random and is ready to “kill, steal and destroy” whenever he can. He’s looking for the unarmed trying to find them without conviction. He wants to catch you “napping” or chance upon the weak and feeble like sheep having no shepherd. Are you lackadaisical lunchmeat?

The Word is the source of success, the provision for life and the armory of your defense. You have to “know it by heart” for your personal armory is only full of what you know. When you abide in the Word it’s your mighty fortress and when the Word abides in then you are equipped for battle. But if you don’t “abide” but just seek God when you “need” Him you are like and unarmed peasant running in and out of the castle in the midst of a war - an easy target and pleasant potential POW. If you’re not ready the enemy is and it’s slaves he craves.

So “On Guard” - be ready! The Word of God will make and keep you free. Abide in it, keep it, learn how to wield it and it will keep and watch over you!

Ps 91:1-2
91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust."
NKJV

PIE90 Scripture:

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
NKJV

1 Peter 5:8
8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
NIV

1 Peter 5:8-9
8 Be careful-watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart.
TLB

1 Peter 5:8-9
8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.

9 Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset — rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same ( identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.
AMP

1 Peter 5:8-11
8 Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. 9 Keep your guard up. You're not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It's the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. 10 The suffering won't last forever. It won't be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ — eternal and glorious plans they are! — will have you put together and on your feet for good. 11 He gets the last word; yes, he does.
MES

John 8:31-32
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
NKJV

John 8:36
36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
NKJV

1 Cor 15:57-58
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
NKJV

  1. That was really good. Reminds me of the guy in the bean field whose hand "cleaved" to his sword.
