Compromise Breeds Compromise

Someone figured out that. “If you see one mouse, chances are you have 33.076923076923 more.” And the .077 mouse is more alarming then the rest because it is a mouse in progress. That’s how they all start and then they grow into full blown mouse factories. I was having a hard time with Ab Riper X today possibly because I did Abs/Core Plus yesterday. Anyway as I was getting through and I thought I could just skip one of the exercises and make it easier and that’s when this thought came to me. Compromise breeds compromise, if you just let one or two of the little ones in then they get together and pretty soon you have more compromise than you can count. It starts by skipping a set then you miss a workout here and there and then a couple of days and then a week or two. When you compromise once then you tend to compromise more and pretty soon you’re like a ship ashore. That’s why it’s important to do your best and especially when you don’t feel like it. Some days are better than others and it’s on the others that the compromise will try to creep in. If you have a mouse infestation problem the first thing to do is to block their entry points. If you don’t then you can trap them all day and they will keep moving in and breeding faster than you can catch em. So if you keep catching yourself compromising it’s because you have an open mind to it. You might not ‘want to’ but before can deal with it you will have to remove its entry option. You have to make a decision beforehand that you will “do your best and forget the rest” it may not be a ‘perfect’ workout but a workout without compromise will eventually be perfect you. You know you can do it, if you will, then you will find a way. So just put in the DVD and push play and push through it. It’ll be over before you know it and you’ll be glad you did. Then psych yourself up for your next workout so when the time comes you’ll already be ready. Living without compromise may be hard but it’s still easier than living with it.

Weak Will’s Mutiny of Mind

I’m feeling much better this week after my attitude adjustment. It was a weak week last week but I have changed my mind. I’m plenty strong to do P90X+ but somewhere I let weak Will in which made me weak. Weak Will’s poor attitude was like poison sapping the strength from my ship. But I will not kowtow to weak Will or let him rise up in my mind. I will not yield to him lest he begin to manipulate my mind. Mutiny is on the horizon if I allow weak Will to steer the ship. I will stay the course and cast all scoffing thoughts and cowardly cravings for quitting off my ship. I have made a decision and I will follow through. I will do it with joy and zeal because I absolutely refuse to be overcome and ruled by weak Will. So I made weak Will walk the plank, what about you?

“Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'" (Joel 3:10b)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Eph 6:10 NKJV

Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave;
Yes, strife and reproach will cease.

Romanticize Don’t Agonize Your Exercise!

Ouch! I feel queasy, shaky, faint and dizzy. This was my 21st week of P90X this year and possibly the hardest one yet. Last week I was crushing the workouts and then I hit the wall. Bad rest, hectic schedule, poor diet and a weak attitude will eat your lunch. I haven’t been working out at my regular time and for me it’s quite a bit more difficult when I just throw my workout in at some random time each day. P90X is intense and so after doing the regular and then adding in P90X Plus and mixing in some of the One on One routines the novelty wears off after 20 weeks and it becomes more like work than fun. I’m already in shape so it’s harder to push for goals and it seems to takes more effort to produce less increase. The honey moon is over and it’s time to settle into the lifestyle and make it a habit. The main difficulty is not caused by the bad died and hectic schedule as much as the weak attitude. It's the same problem new couples often come to; if you’re not careful you will lose the romance. The way you think about it will either make it work or play. The activity can be the same but the attitude determines if it’s enjoyable or exhausting. Someone said, “men are like microwaves and women are like crock pots.” Women tend to romanticize ideas before they enjoy them while men seem to be ready at a moments notice. I’ve found a similar situation in fitness except it seems that with exercise both men and women need romance. In other words when I look forward to my exercise with anticipation then I tend to love and enjoy it. But if I allow myself to dread it and begin to think like a little whiney baby and “waaa, I feel like crying, and I don’t want to, and you can’t make me!” The activity may be the same but what’s often more important than the activity is the ambience preceding the activity. If you are a man and you haven’t figured this out yet this then this might help more than your physique. You have to discipline your mind and make yourself think about how much you love to exercise. LOVE EXERCISE! Are you crazy? Sure because it’s the people who romanticize about each other who are crazy about each other for a long time. Likewise I will not be able to maintain a high level of fitness and make it my lifestyle unless I make myself love it. If I romanticize I imagine a good future with love and adventure. But if I agonize I dread the pain and struggle and will try to avoid the suffering. I have determined that I must exercise but I still want to enjoy it. It’s like being married, once you’re in it it’s your choice what you make of it. But if you want to make it you will have to learn to romanticize and not agonize your exercise.

Think Yourself Strong

If you're feeling feeble just going through the motions is still better than fickle fortitude. You feed a weak will and waver when you begin to think about why you don’t want to try. But when you think yourself strong you can exorcise weakness all day long.
I did not FEEL LIKE exercising today but I did anyway because consistency is more important than intensity. I like to give 100% and do my best but today was only about 80%. I had a long, low rest, junk food filled weekend so consequently I wasn’t feeling great today. Not ill, just feeling weak and lazy and I wanted to JUST SKIP IT. But that’s not an option. Once I started going through the motions I was able to do 80% of what I felt like I could not do. The body tends to be lazy and lie to you about what it can really do. As humans we have amazing potential but if we don’t test our limits we will never know the possibilities. So what I say is once you make a commitment you DO IT and especially when you don’t feel like it. If you felt like it all the time you would not need a commitment. And even if you have a few days when you’re ‘just goin through the motions” 80% success is still better than 100% failure. The more days you skip the easier it gets to quit and then you find yourself right back where you started. So just “Push Play!” and “do your best and forget the rest” and “Git R Done!” You must resolutely decide that you will make through your program. Commit not to quit when you feel tired and weak. You know you can do it if you will set your mind to it.

Exorcise a Legion

A legion of weakness came out in drops of sweat. It wanted to stay and master me but I took authority over myself so it had to go into a bunch of pigs. It possessed the pigs and drove them to death and it will do the same to me if I let it rule my life. I make a quality decision to exercise everyday so I can exorcise weakness in every way.

There Will Be Pain

The effort you exert to be healthy is much easier to bear then the results of a poor lifestyle. You will pay the price sooner or later. You can spend your time and money exercising and eating well now or you can spend it later being prodded and examined. There will pain - there seems to be no way around it. But it's easier to endure when it's self inflicted for your own benefit rather then the kind that comes upon you by affliction. A good regimen takes discipline but it will produce life and health. And a lazy lifestyle may seem easier now but later you will reap the runaway results. You can control your pain or just procrastinate eventually it will control you. If you are a semi driver it's a hassle to check and maintain your brakes all the time but it's better than racing down the steep and hazardous mountain hoping for a runaway truck ramp. This seems to be how peoples lives go and one thing's for sure if you don't maintain you health ultimately you will find your self in an emergency situation. And when it happens it will not only affect you but everyone around you and especially the ones you love the most.

P90X Plyometrics Warriors Win!

It's really rewarding when you've done your program for a while and you get to the place where you can Rock It! If you will be diligent to exercise and not quit you will wake up one day and feel like a warrior. And when you feel like a warrior you are more apt to win in every area of life. When I first started P90X, Plyometrics kicked my butt but now can rock the whole way through and enjoy it. There's just something about feeling strong that gives you boldness and helps you overcome. If you're feelin weak today don't despair! Just get in there and push play and soon you too will be leapin like a Lion!

Being a Yogi Makes Your Program Easier to Bear.

Yoga? I always thought that I would be more inclined to watch Yogi Bear than go do some weird slow contorted exercise. And that's part of the problem, I've never laughed enough to develop my abs by sitting on the couch watching cartoons. I figured I'd get P90X and just "skip" the Yoga because that's not for me. But to my surprise it has become one of my favorite exercises. The program can be a bit rigorous and by the forth day every week I really need to stretch out. I always feel better after Yoga and believe it is a vital part of the whole equation. There's really nothing weird about it unless you make it so. Sometimes you just need to calm down and get the stress out of your life and you muscles so you can develop properly. I listen to Christian rock or praise and worship music while I do Yoga and I think that's a bit funny but it works for me. It's also a good time to pray and I come out of it feeling refreshed. The P90X yoga is an hour and a half which is good but I also bought Tony's One on One Yoga "Fountain of Youth" which is 45min. and seems to fit better into my schedule so I recommend it to anyone with any program. If you work it in somewhere you will get better results and feel better while you are doing it. Don't ditch Yoga because you are insecure, do it and your program will be much easier to bear.

Don't quit just modify a bit!

I've had a couple of injuries on my way through P90X cycles. One shoulder from falling of the motorcycle and now a rib from playing football with the kids. I don't like to start over so I just work through it. I have to lift less or modify but week by week I keep getting stronger. I encourage you not to quit but to modify or substitute other exercises while you recover. You can endure a "bit" of pain but if it's "sharp" you are probably just aggravating and delaying the healing.

When you start a cycle you begin to develop momentum, every day and week you miss slows you down and makes it harder to get going again. You know "An object at rest tends to stay at rest" so you really need to get in the habit of exercising very consistently. If you use injury as an excuse to take a week or two or more "off" you will stop and be temped not to start again because it's hard to move a big rock in the middle of the road. If you can't do the program you started, commit to DO SOMETHING everyday. Substitute - Walk or swim or do a different dvd. Anything to keep you in the habit and moving. That way you won't find yourself repossessed by your former lifestyle. If you don't want those who collect on bad health to empty your bank account you will have to pay the price and find a way to exorcise weakness everyday.

X- orcise Weakness

Exorcise weakness with P90X and P90X+! The little imps of weakness will try to hold you down but you can overcome. They will continually come to possess your body, but every time you decide to push play you will drive them out and stomp on their little mocking faces. Will you be possessed by lazy bad habits or will you get of your potato chip rear and cast them out?

Drive it Out!

Weakness I adjure you be thou removed! Haha - Now go Exercise!
